The current situation at Ormet is dire to say the least. You have an aluminum manufacturer saying they have to shut down operations and send 1,000 employees to the unemployment line if AEP doesn't give them a break on their utility rates. AEP says the rates aren't the problem and they have a contract to abide by. The Public Utilities Commission says they have heard both sides and have given Ormet some breaks but not all....and they won't. Governor Kasich meanwhile says Ormet has already received nearly $300 million in subsidies and it's the low market that is it's biggest foe.
No matter who you side with.....many families will be affected if this is not worked out. And why does it seem all bad employement news always comes right around the Holiday Season? Either way...I spoke with 2 men directly involved in the situation.....Ohio State Representative Jack Cera and Ohio State Senator Lou Gentile. This is what they have to say http://www.newsradio1170.com/media/podcast-bloomdaddy-podcast-BLOOMDADDY/ormet-1-23840664/
