Workers at fast food restaurants in seven cities across America (New York, Chicago and Detriot to name a few) are planning to walk off the job today to protest what they say are wages too low to live on and raise a family. Industry representatives say most fast food restaurants operate on a meager profit margin...making it impossible to increase employee wages.
Now I understand these types of jobs...McDonald's...Burger King....Wendy's and KFC.... have usually been reserved for high school and college kids looking to make an exta buck....and minimum wage was sufficient for those young individuals. But times have changed...and with that so has the demo of the fast food worker. I see more and more adults...with families....who have lost their jobs and are still trying to support a family on meager wages....meager wages given to them by billion dollar corporations.
