A petition to allow one officer per police cruiser will soon be presented to the Wheeling City Council. According to wtov9.com---Petitioners thought they needed 2,000 signatures to get the issue on the ballot. Petition organizer George Jones said he found out recently they actually needed 2,200. Jones said the group reached the 2,200 mark and is ready to present the petition to the City Council at next week's meeting. The group is pushing to allow just one officer per cruiser. Currently, the city mandates there are two officers in each cruiser….which cuts down on the amount of cruisers they can have out at one time.
