Police departments across the area are reminding the public to keep the streets safe this St. Patrick’s Day by drinking responsibly and designating a sober drive before heading out to the local pub. 

The Wheeling Police Department will have extra DUI patrols throughout the weekend. 

Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that over seven-hundred people were killed nationwide in crashes involving a drunk driver during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday from 2006 to 2010.
