Four years after plans were announced to build a new multimillion-dollar middle and high school in Cameron, the school opened up on Thursday, a year later than anticipated.
Our news partner News 9 reports on Thursday and again today students will go through an orientation with tours, find their new classrooms and move items from their lockers to the new school while still attending classes at the old school.
Officials say there are still some items that need to be taken care of, like installing security cameras and finishing some carpentry and painting.
Over the weekend, crews will go through a final checklist including cleaning the hallways and restrooms.
Students will start classes at their new school Monday morning.
