One person has died and another is in critical condition after a drunken driver crashed into their car in Ohio County Sunday morning.

Sheriff Pat Butler tells NEWS 9 the crash happened on McCutcheon Road past Robinson Drive near the Highlands. Butler says the driver was driving drunk and rear-ended another car then struck a guardrail.

Two women were critically injured, and one died in the hospital.

Deputies arrested 28-year old John Lance Hatfield, for driving under the influence and causing injury. A DUI causing death charge has also been filed.

Authorities say Hatfield is in the Northern Regional Jail where bond is set at a total of $350,000.
